Chicago Fair Trade brings together a group of inspired individuals looking to improve the world around us, one fair trade product at a time. From businesses, to schools, to individuals, Chicago Fair Trade offers many different types of membership.

From Fair Trade members socials, to fair trade festival opportunities, membership with Chicago Fair Trade allows you to meet likeminded people and expand your fair trade network, all while having fun and promoting fair trade while you do it. We have a robust network of people working to create the world we want to live in. 

The more members we have, the more powerful our movement becomes.

Membership Levels

Chicago Fair Trade has three different membership categories: 

-Individual, open to anyone who is a fair trade advocate and wants to support our network 

-Business, including non-profits who sell fair trade items

-And the following who support fair trade and Chicago Fair Trade's mission: 

     Faith-based

     Nonprofit/agency 

     School/university

Individual Membership Levels
(renewed annually): 

We have individual membership options for all income types. 

Fair Trade Hero.................................$250.00

Fair Trade Champion.......................$100.00

Individual Membership.....................$50.00

Low-Income Individual.....................$35.00

Student Membership..........................$25.00

If you are considering opening a fair trade business, we encourage you to apply for individual membership before starting your business. 

Additional Membership Options

Business Membership

Business entities (for-profit or not-for-profit) that sell products that alleviate poverty should download the Business Membership Application form here.  Products can be either fairly traded from other countries or produced locally by social enterprises.  Applicants should have an established connection to the Chicagoland area. We are a community committed to promoting fair trade.  We welcome people with a spirit of collaboration to help CFT with this mission. There are three types of business members; all use the same application form.

  • Fair Trader: 50% or more of sales are fair trade

  • Local Producer: 50% or more of sales are locally produced by a social enterprise

  • Allied Member: Less than 50% of sales are fair trade

Application Deadlines:  

Please note: Applications are reviewed quarterly.  Decisions are made within 30 business days of each deadline.

 

  • March 15th (Deadline for participating in World Fair Trade Day events).

  • June 15th

  • September 15th (Deadline for in participating in Holiday Pop-up Shop).

  • December 15th

Faith-Based Membership

Nonprofit/Agency & School/University Membership

Schools, non-profits, agencies, and other non-faith-based institutions should download a copy of our institutional membership form. Completed applications should be emailed to katherine@chicagofairtrade.org.
