Board Member Job Description

Take this opportunity to help build an organization in Chicago committed to advancing the principals of fair trade: We are looking for board members who can contribute 4-6 hours a month.

  • Serve as an advocate and spokesperson for Chicago Fair Trade (CFT).
  • Be able to articulate the vision and values of the organization and fair trade.
  • Regularly attend Board meetings and serve on at least one Board committee.
  • Provide oversight for the overall policy and direction of CFT. Communicate board decisions with others in the membership group you represent*.
  • Represent your membership group at board meetings.
  • Participate in Chicago Fair Trade events as able.
  • Support the fundraising activities of CFT.
  • Time commitment: There will be 10-12 monthly meetings: Board meetings are held six times each year with membership group meetings held on alternate months.
  • Terms: Terms of board members are 1 or 2 years. Election to two additional terms is optional.

    *Membership groups: business, not-for-profit agencies, faith organizations, educational/student organizations, individuals
