Bay Area Fair Trade Coalition

The Bay Area Fair Trade Coalition is a group of consumers, students, non-profits, Fair Trade businesses, activists and community members working together to raise awareness and build demand for Fair Trade in the Bay Area. We hope to make San Francisco the first Fair Trade Town in the US! We welcome everyone – whether you’re new to Fair Trade and want to learn more, or a seasoned Fair Trade pro. Come join us! The Bay Area Fair Trade Coalition is currently working on the following: Working with City Hall on Fair Trade legislation Outreach to local businesses to scout FT availability and encourage them to offer FT products General tabling at local grassroots events and festivals Fair Trade educational events

Boston Fair Trade Coalition

The goal of the Boston Fair Trade Coalition is to support local, healthy, sustainable communities by promoting Fair Trade principles through community outreach efforts, and to address the gross injustices of a world trade system that is proving disastrous for small farmers, artisans and local environments worldwide.

Fair Trade Los Angeles

Fair Trade LA is an open, democratically organized group of people who are working for proactive, ideal/realistic solutions in a global movement for social and environmental justice. Fair Trade LA participants include students from all over the Los Angeles area, individuals, members of Faith Based organizations, Oxfam America, and many other groups and individuals! Everyone’s welcome to participate. All you have to do is express your interest! Simply send a blank email to fairtradela-subscribe@yahoogroups.com to be added to our email list. You’ll then receive information about Fair Trade actions and events in the Los Angeles area! New York City Fair Trade Coalition

What We Do: • Encourage and support organizations and institutions to switch to Fair Trade products. • Support local businesses that sell Fair Trade products by doing Fair Trade tablings at their cafes and stores. • Host public events to raise awareness of Fair Trade products. See the list of where to buy Fair Trade products in New York City. • Make the Switch. Get your office/congregation/community group to switch to Fair Trade. • Ask for Fair Trade wherever you shop!

Fair Trade Puget Sound

An Invitation from Fair Trade Puget Sound Seattle is the center of the worldwide market in specialty coffees. It's also a community that values social justice and environmental sustainability. We believe that we as a city can make a difference, ensuring that coffee producers are paid a fair price for their product, by expanding the market for Fair Trade Certified coffees. Fair Trade Puget Sound is a coalition of community groups, businesses, NGOs, faith communities, students, and individuals who have come together to spearhead an effort to educate local consumers about fair trade coffee. We aim to measurably increase the availability and consumption of Fair Trade Certified coffee within Seattle and throughout the greater Puget Sound area. We're not aiming to pass a law mandating fair trade, or to protest or antagonize anyone (least of all the coffee companies who are pillars of our local economy); our goal is to work in collaboration with businesses, universities, faith communities, and other organizations to promote more awareness of, demand for, and sale of Fair Trade Certified coffee. We see fair trade as a promising approach to alleviating third world poverty, one that is based on voluntary participation in markets; we believe positive education about its benefits through an inclusive, focused campaign is the key to its expansion. We believe that by bringing together diverse sectors of our community -- especially including business -- to stand up for fairness and environmental sustainability, we can redefine our relationships with those who produce the commodity that has become our city's signature beverage. We want to be the first city in the United States to do this as a community, declaring ourselves a Fair Trade Town. Please join us!
